George Washington's Office Open House

Celebrate George Washington’s Birthday in the place where he first grew in stature! Winchester citizens elected George to his first political office and knew him when he built a fort to protect them from the “Indians.” Come get to know George a little bit better in the building he used as an office while building Fort Loudoun.

Dick Proenneke retired in 1967 to build a cabin in the wilds of Alaska. He lived & filmed there for the next 30 years, in the midst of great natural beauty & wildlife.
