In Iran women are barred from attending sports events with men. Renowned Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi draws from this a sly and very funny film that has earned critical praise -- although its jabs at official, social repression led it to be banned in his own land. The Village Voice called it both "cinema verite and political allegory."
